Directorate for Mine Action: A meeting for listing the allocations of Ottawa Convention implementation at the Ministry of Planning
The Directorate for Mine Action, one of the directorates of the Ministry of Health and Environment, held a technical meeting with the Sectors Planning Department at the headquarters of Ministry of Planning in Baghdad.
The Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood, who headed the technical delegation of his directorate, said that the meeting was held for the purpose of listing the financial allocations within the annual state budget to implement the updated national plan in accordance with the extension request of Iraq obligations towards Anti-personnel mine ban Convention (Ottawa).
Mahmood added that the convention is concerned with ending the impact of landmines in the affected countries, as well as reducing the social and psychological impact of mine victims and spread the mine risk education in the affected communities, and that the updated national plan requires securing financial allocations for conducting the survey and clearance activities in the contaminated areas.
