On Thursday, the Directorate for Mine Action carried out a field visit to Al-Najaf governorate to look at the reality of mine action in the governorate and met its governor, Mr. Luay Al-Yasiri.

The Director General of DMA, Eng.Dhafir Mahmood, who headed the technical delegation of his directorate, said that the visit was accompanied by the director of UNMAS, Mr.Pehr Lodhammar, and included a technical meeting with Al-Najaf’s governor, Mr.Luay Al-Yasiri, where the technical staff presented a presentation showing the reality of mine action in the governorate in terms of contamination rates, their levels and the most important obstacles and challenges that face the implementation of the activities of national mine action program in the governorate.

Mahmood added that the technical delegation carried out a field visit to view the works of civil defense directorate and QC activities implemented by the staff of RMAC-Middle Euphrates in one of the contaminated sites in governorate.
