The Directorate for Mine Action signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Slovenian Government to support the activities and works of the Iraqi national mine action program, at HQ of Ministry of Environment in the capital, Baghdad.

The Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood, said that Dr.Jassim Abd Al-Aziz Al-Falahi, Authorized to administrate the Ministry of Environment, and the Ambassador of Slovenian Government, Mr. Primoz Seligo, headed the technical meeting which was attended by representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the heads of technical departments and Regional mine action centers, from the Slovenian side, it was attended by the Director of ITF enhancing human security, Mr.Tomaz Lovrencic, and ITF Project Manager, Ms. Katrina Cvikl, they discussed the priorities of support that can be provided by ITF for the activities of national mine action program either in the southern governorates or in governorates which liberated from ISIS terrorist gangs.

Mahmood added that the two parts held a press conference on the marginal of signing MOU, where Dr.Jassim Abd Al-Aziz Humadee, authorized to administrate the Ministry of   Environment, clarified that signing this MOU is carried out according to  the directions of Prime Minister and all governmental efforts that confirm the two countries’ keenness on the importance of strengthening and supporting the humanitarian aspects to implement the works and projects of survey, clearance and quality management in the fields of mines, cluster munitions and IEDs, victim assistance, explosive ordnance risk education and information management of mine action in accordance with the national and international mine action standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
