The Technical Deputy Minister, authorized of administrating the Ministry of Environment, Dr.Jassim Abd Al-Aziz AlFalahi, headed a technical meeting to support the field operations of the activities of the national mine action program in Nineveh governorate, north of Iraq.

The Director General of DMA, Eng.Dhafir Mahmood, said that the meeting that was headed by the Deputy Minister, was attended by a joint technical delegation including Nineveh’s governor, the Major General Najim Al-Jubori, leader of Nineveh police, representatives from Ministries of Defense and Interior/ Military Engineering Battalions, Explosives Combating Directorate and Civil Defense Directorate. They discussed the field activities of survey, clearance and provide assistance to the victims of mines, IEDs and ERWs in the governorate.

Mahmood added that the meeting also included discussing the projects of United Nations Mine Action Services (UNMAS)in the presence of UNMAS Project Manager, as well as discussing the support’s mechanisms of organizations and companies working within the national mine action program in performing their technical and awareness tasks and rehabilitation victims and reintegration them into society.
