The Directorate for Mine Action, one of the formations of the Ministry of Environment, held a technical meeting with the regional director of Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Ms. Marri Jussi, at the headquarters of Regional Mine Action Center- South  in Basra governorate, south of Iraq.

The Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood, said that the meeting which was headed by the director of RMAC-South, Engineer. Nibras Fakhir, and attended by the director of DRC/Basra branch, Mr. Mohammed Al-Maliki, discussed the field activities of survey, demining and explosive ordnance risk education in the governorate.

Mahmood added that the meeting also included discussing the possibility of opening other branches of DRC in other southern governorates and mechanisms of supporting the mine victims, rehabilitation them and reintegration them into society within the activities of the Iraqi national mine action program.
