The Directorate for Mine Action / Gender Unit participated in a workshop, organized by United Nations Mine Action Services, of social and economic impact survey of gender of mine - affected communities and reflection on female specifically.

The Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, explained that UNMAS had presented a detailed presentation regarding the surveys that previously conducted to the affected communities, addressing the social and economic aspects and the reflection of all of this on female, in addition to review Sinjar Book which was achieved, as well as the perceptions and visions that would contribute in empowering woman in the field of mine action. It also presented a film sheds light on gender, pointing out that this project was accomplished in cooperation between United Nations and Kingdom of Netherlands with a direct support of Dutch Embassy in Iraq.
