The Directorate for Mine Action discussed the start of survey and clearance activities in Thi-Qar international airport.

The Director General of DMA, Eng.Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, stated that an official meeting was held, at the headquarters of Thi-Qar Environment Directorate, which included the second deputy governor of Thi-Qar, Engineer. Rafie Faeq Al-Shami, head of RMAC-south, Engineer.Nibras Fakhir Matrood, a representative of Civil Aviation Authority, as well as the director of Thi-Qar Environment Directorate and a representative of Civil Defense Directorate. The meeting concluded the importance of identifying an initial area to start the works of survey and clearance for the airport site in order to obtain the required environmental approvals, pointing out that the approved procedures require that DMA sends a letter to the national authorities represented by Ministries of Defense and Interior in order to identify their ability to conduct this activity, indicating that it will be sent a letter to Thi-Qar Antiques Inspectorate in order to identify the procedures related to antiques that will be found within the airport
