The Directorate for Mine Action / RMAC - South assigned DRC to conduct the technical survey (TS) works in the site of Rumaila accident in Al-Zubair district within Basra province to verify the extent of contamination of the site or not.

The Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, announced that during his visit to the site of accident in Rumaila, with an official delegation from DMA included the head of RMAC-South, Eng. Nibras Fakhir, operations staff of RMAC-South, representatives from Legal and Operations Departments as well as the director of DDG/DRC in Basra which assigned by RMAC-South for conducting the activities of TS in the accident site which led to killed many people and injured others during the last week.

It is noteworthy that Rumaila area had exposed to a projectile explosion, and this visit is to investigate about the causes of accident and verify the extent of contamination in this area by conducting the technical survey by
