The Directorate for Mine Action carried out an awareness campaign on the dangers of mines, explosive remnants of war and cluster munitions for schoolchildren in Al-Muthanna governorate, southern Iraq.

From his part, the Director General of DMA Eng. Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, said that the awareness campaign included (Al-Muna) Primary School in Al-Khader District and (Sumaya) Primary School in Al-Rumaitha District/Al-Muthanna governorate.

Mahmoud added that the awareness campaign included delivering awareness lectures to schoolchildren, which aims to raise the awareness of the dangers of mines and cluster munitions, the need to follow the safe behavior in dealing with them, and the importance of informing by calling on the free hot lines (182) for DMA and (115) for civil defense directorate in order to take the necessary procedures by the specialized authorities. 

It is noteworthy that DMA continues its supervising and coordinating efforts for the activities and work of the National Mine Action Program in Iraq in accordance with the applicable national standards.
