The Iraqi delegation participating in the intersessional meetings of the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention (OTTAWA ) presented today, Monday, in Geneva, a technical statement on the assistance of mine victims in Iraq.
From his part, the official spokesman of DMA said that an official delegation headed by the Director General of the Directorate for Mine Action, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, and the membership of a number of concerned personnel / DMA, as well as representatives of the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Mr. Sabah Jassim and Mr. Muhammad Reda Al-Haidari, participated in the meeting of the opening session of APMBC, the meeting’s agenda was reviewed, in addition to reviewing the observations of the coordination committees on survey, clearance and EORE, the International Cooperation and Assistance Committee, the Victim Assistance Committee, and the Cooperative Compliance Committee, indicating that the Director General of DMA presented Iraq’s official statement on victim assistance at a time that he will present his technical data related to other issues of mine action during the upcoming meeting sessions.
It is noteworthy that Iraq is a member of Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (OTTAWA) and is obliged to submit its periodic reports to the convention secretariat, in which it reflects the progress made in all activities of mine action related to this convention and other conventions to which Iraq was accessed earlier.
