The Directorate for Mine Action has started updating the works of non-technical survey in Wassit Governorate, in coordination with Civil Defense Directorate/Wassit
From his part, the official spokesman of DMA stated that the aim of these surveys is, for identifying the dangerous areas in the governorate and confirming the previously indicated ones, thus allowing the Ministries of Defense and Interior to carry out their work in the field of clearance and demining based on this information and updated data, pointing out that these works were in cooperation and partnership with all relevant authorities, including local government, relevant institutions, civil society organizations and others, indicating that these surveys were launched on 4th of September until the end of this year.
It is noteworthy that DMA, which supervises the work of the national mine action program in general, usually conducts these surveys in order to carry out the clearance of contaminated areas as soon as possible, which it contributes in accelerating the development and reconstruction process.
