The Directorate for Mine Action participated in the training course on the basics of psychological and social support and effective communication with children, which was organized by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in the capital, Baghdad.

From his part, the Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood Khallaf, said that the training course, which continued for two consecutive days, in which the staff of awareness and victim assistance participated, aimed to increase the knowledge of child protection system and develop the communication skills with them during the implementation of awareness activities within the National Mine Action Program in Iraq.

Mahmoud added that the course also included discussions for the groups of trainees from the departments and RMACs of DMA on how to prepare the psychological and social support programs for children, as well as the skills of designing awareness materials related to the dangers of mines and explosive remnants of war.

It is noteworthy that DMA continues its supervisory and coordination efforts for the activities and works of the National Mine Action Program in Iraq in accordance with national and international mine action standards.
