DMA… An awareness campaign for the visitors performing the ceremonies of Arbainyat Imam Al-Hussein (peace be upon him)
The Directorate for Mine Action organized a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of mines and explosive remnants of war for the visitors performing the ceremonies of Arbainyat Imam Al-Hussein, peace be upon him, in Karbala governorate .
From his part, the Director General of DMA, Eng. Dhafir Mahmood, said that the awareness campaign was launched in two phases. The first phase targeted visitors heading to Karbala governorate on (Basra, Maysan, Muthanna, Dhi Qar) road, while the second campaign targeted visitors on (Babylon, Karbala, Najaf) road, in order to keep pace with the movement of the crowds of visitors towards Karbala governorate.
Mahmoud added that the work of awareness campaign included delivering awareness lectures, distributing leaflets and awareness folders about the dangers of mines and explosive remnants of war and the importance of following the safe behavior in dealing with suspected items by calling the free hot line numbers (115) for the Civil Defense Directorate and (182) for DMA in order to take the necessary measures by the competent authorities
It is noteworthy that the Directorate for Mine Action continues its supervisory and coordination efforts for the activities and works of the National Mine Action Program in accordance with national and international mine action standards.
