On Monday, Mr. Bakir Sahib Ahmed, the in charge Director General of DMA, met in his office the Director of Handicap International (HI), Mr. Mark Van Der, in Iraq, and discussed with him the most important activities and works of the organization to be implemented during this year.
Mr. Sahib indicated that Mr. Van was presenting the most important activities of his organization represented in continuing work and in coordination with the German donor to adopt drones within the various mine action activities, as well as the organizantion’s endeavor on the level of capacity building. Also, the director of organization indicated that the organization intends at the present time to move towards expanding the works and transferring it towards Salah al-Din governorate and strengthening work in the field of victim assistance, especially after the approval of victim assistance standard, which was completed in cooperation with the organization, as it is hoped that its launch will be announced very soon.
Mr. Sahib also stressed the need for the drone project, which the organization is currently working on, to take its operational and practical levels in order to enhance the productivity of mine action in general, as well as the need to keep pace with awareness-raising work for demining and clearance operations, as well as it is necessary for foreign organizations to adopt training projects directed towards local organizations working in the various fields of mine action, which would ensure that no gap would occur in the event of
departure of these foreign organizations and the end of their tasks and operational work inside Iraq.
