On Thursday, the Directorate for Mine Action participated in an awareness seminar on the dangers of mines, IEDs and ERW as well as the works and activities of clearance and demiming, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the Conference Palace Department, and the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights.

From his part, the official spokesman of DMA stated that the seminar was chaired by the head of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights in Parliament, Representative Arshad Al-Salihi, and was attended by Representatives Joan Abdullah and Zuhair Al-Fatlawi, the Secretary-General of the Parliament and the Director General of the Conference Palace Department in the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Montaser Sabah Mahdi, as well as a large presence of the employees of Parliament  and Conference Palace Department, where it dealt with the most important repercussions of the Iraqi issue of mine action, the nature and size of the current contamination, the completed demining and clearance works, as well as the awareness activities carried out in the field of mine action, through a lecture given by the Director of the Operations and Quality Control Department of DMA, Mr. Hassanein Hashim Ahmed, while the representative of Awareness and Media Department, Ms. Salima Inseel, was presented a lecture on the awareness activities carried out in this field.

It is noteworthy that there is prior cooperation between DMA and the Ministry of Culture/ the Conferences Palace Department, which finally resulted in holding this awareness and introductory event on the work of DMA and the nature of the work of the Iraqi National Mine Action Program in general.
