On Wednesday, DMA announced that the land of Al-Nibras Petrochemical Project in Al-Zubair district/ Basra governorate will soon be completely cleared from munitions and war remnants. 

From his part, the official spokesman of DMA explained that a delegation headed by the Director General of DMA, Eng.Shawkat Tayeh Masoud, and concerned staff in the presence of representatives from Ministry of Industry and Explosives Directorate in the Popular Mobilization Authority, as well as the presence of representative of Civil Defense Directorate had listened to the presentation given by the director of Basra organization about QC works currently assigned by DMA, free of charge, to find out what has been accomplished in terms of technical surveys carried out by members of national efforts with directly commissioned and supervised by DMA at the level of evaluation and periodic close follow - up of this project.     

It is noteworthy that Al- Nibras Petrochemical Project, which has a total area of ​​about (4,500) dunums, is located in Al-Zubair district within Basra Governorate, where mine action work was launched on it during September of the last year, at a request submitted by the Ministry of Industry to DMA, which in turn was assigned to the Engineering Support Department in the Ministry of Defense, the Civil Defense Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, and the Explosives Directorate of the Popular Mobilization Authority to conduct technical surveys on it,  which saved the Iraqi state treasury huge sums of money amounting to approximately (11) million dollars in the event that these works were carried out by international agencies or commercial companies, at a rate of one dollar per square meter, as DMA prepares within the next few days to announce this project that completely cleared within the next few days after the completion of QC work on it, through an official ceremony that will be dedicated to this important and anticipated event.
